Metis Lighthouse, LLC, a healthcare consulting firm, works with organizations and clients on strategic initiatives from idea development to product commercialization.  Our practice focuses on medical device and digital health sectors.  Clients range from single product startups to mid-size companies. 

Founder & Managing Director

Carl Bouthillette founded Metis Lighthouse, LLC in 2014 after 16 years with Guidant/Abbott Vascular. With over 30 years of medical device and biotechnology experience, he has held leadership roles in general management, new product development, global marketing, and business development. Carl has experience leading global teams in Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States. For the last 3 years, Carl has been focused on healthcare investing with the Innovation Fund at the California Health Care Foundation, and has been Chair of HealthTech Capital's selection Committee of HealthTech Capital, a Bay Area angel group, since 2014. Prior to joining Guidant, Carl was the Director of International Sales and Marketing at Genosys Biotechnologies. Carl holds a B.S. degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University, and an MBA from INSEAD in France.

How We Work Together

We start by understanding your needs and figuring out whether we can improve your organization.  If we don’t truly think we can, we’ll let you know.  If we believe we can help you, we will define a list of clear goals based on your specific needs, and we will do this together. Once the qualitative and quantitative objectives have been agreed on, we will provide you with a proposal.  Our proposals are fee-based, not hourly based, to ensure we are aligned on the outcomes expected and you know what your ROI will be, upfront.
